Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge  

Perched on the forested slopes of Mount Meru just outside Arusha and about 30 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport, this 4-star mountain lodge feels like a colonial hideaway. It’s a perfect base for safaris and day trips to Arusha National Park, Ngurdoto Crater and the northern circuit — think easy access to Kilimanjaro views and wilderness adventures.

Housed in an early-20th-century colonial farmhouse and run by the same family since the 1970s, the lodge offers a small collection of individually decorated garden rooms, main-house suites and a two‑bedroom pool cottage. Rooms feature private balconies or patios and classic bathroom fittings (bathtub or shower/tub combos). Expect verandahs for slow drinks, lush gardens, and a soundtrack of colobus and Sykes monkeys and birdlife.
