Been to Mount Kato a couple years ago and it was great. Visited today and it was very disappointing. Only about 5 or less hills open, majority open were black diamond (the whole backside was closed). It took me about 20 minutes to find this on their website (they hide it, so you aren’t aware until you purchase your lift ticket). It was a random Tuesday and they charged us full weekend price because it’s after Christmas (it’s Dec. 30 - almost a week after Christmas and not NYE), this was also not told on the website or by the front desk. I asked about why it was full price and the workers were very unfriendly. To pay full price on a Tuesday, non-holiday, and VERY little slopes open was ridiculously steep. I have been skiing to many areas around the US, and I have never seen such bad ski lifts. To get off the lift, it is a straight drop off made up of purely ice that you have to just jump midair onto. After getting off, I stood there and watched people getting off the lift, and a person on every single lift chair fell off of it. The lift operator didn’t stop it or put snow down, he was laughing as watching people pile up at the bottom of the icy ramp. To top it off, by the food, it smells of extreme sewage-definitely makes someone want to buy concession food.

It’s a great value if you get the membership, and there’s definitely plenty to do on visit multiple times a year. They do change out the exhibits here and there. Our 1-year-old absolutely loves this place! There’s so much to do for little ones and plenty of fun for older kids too, probably up to around 10 years old. They have great STEM, construction, and agriculture themed activities,. The climbing tree fort is awesome. The butterfly exhibit is interactive and getting to see a butterfly release was a special touch. There’s even a little “Water Works” play area outside that the kids couldn’t get enough of. I'd plan 2 to 6 hours each visit.
