On a 16,000-hectare private game reserve between the Green Kalahari and the Orange River in the Northern Cape. Tutwa Desert Lodge sits in the mountains near Augrabies / Kai !Garib, a wild spot where antelope, giraffe and zebra may wander past the property. Expect safari drives, river paddles and pristine wilderness on your doorstep.

Cool, spacious interiors and a colonial-lodge vibe create a tranquil luxury hideaway. Around ten air-conditioned rooms have minibars and private furnished balconies or patios. Bathrooms feature deep soaking tubs and separate showers, and the lobby offers a cozy fireplace for slow evenings.

Dip in the outdoor pool or book a safari, birding trip or nature paddle on the Orange River.
