Thokozani Lodge  

Nestled in White River near Mbombela, this lodge sits in subtropical gardens just west of town. It’s a convenient base for exploring Kruger National Park (about 33 km to Numbi Gate) and is close to local draws like White River Crossing, Casterbridge Country Shopping and Shangana Cultural Village.

Charming, thatch-roofed houses built in 1926 form a crescent-shaped lodge with six guestrooms. Rooms face west so you catch the sunsets from your stoep, and the garden is filled with huge old trees — listen for bush crickets and the call of the wood owl at night. Rooms come with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee/tea makers, showers and hair dryers; daily housekeeping and a small library add to the old‑charm, laid-back vibe.
