How Do I Know if An Email is Really from Karta?

It’s not uncommon for fraudsters to use legitimate company logos or lookalike emails in phishing or other illegal activity attempts. Unfortunately, as a major provider of high-quality accommodation, we may become a target of these types of activities. To avoid giving out personal information, it’s important to pay attention to common traits fraudulent emails have in order to avoid impersonators attempting to gain access to your sensitive information.

Here Are Some Signs to Help you Tell the Difference:

  • Karta Logo: Many fraudsters tend to mimic an organization or service by using the logo of the company they’re impersonating.

  • Fake Karta Address: A lot of Phishers use fake addresses based on the company they’re pretending to be. If you click a link that takes you to a page that looks similar to our website, but doesn't have https://www.karta.com as the main address, you should close it immediately as it’s a fraudulent webpage.

  • Real Text Taken from Karta Emails: Some criminals steal text from legitimate emails sent from a company for phishing purposes. This could be a fake payout confirmation, confirmation message, or reservation reminder. Please be mindful, and if need be login to the official site https://www.karta.com to check if you received any communication from us.

  • Requesting Account Credentials: Some scammers request your account information or ask you to update your Profile. If you see any such emails, keep in mind that we never ask for personal information including passwords in such a manner.

  • Suspicious Links: Fraudulent emails may contain links to fake Karta web pages for the purpose of stealing your information. It’s important to refrain from clicking links sent from any email addresses that you're unsure about.

  • Misspellings of Karta's Name: Pay attention to misspellings of Karta’s name. If Karta is misspelled in the website address, the website is fake.

A Legitimate Karta Email Contains the Following Traits:

  • Contains Official Karta Domain: An actual link to Karta should always begin with https://www.karta.com. If the email is not sent from this domain or contains URLs beginning with different addresses, it was not sent by us.

  • Good Grammar: Our emails are sent with good grammar and punctuation. Many criminals, operating from Central Asian or East European countries, possess poor English skills and are likely to write poor quality emails to potential victims.

  • We Do Not Request Personal Information: Karta does not request personal information such as credit card details or passwords. All payments are made securely via an HTTPS-secured platform. Note that Karta will never ask for your passwords.
