In old Kamakura’s Kotsubo neighborhood, just a few minutes’ walk from the sand. Zaimokuza Beach is about a 3-minute stroll and Komyo-ji, Myohoji and Myohonji temples are all within easy walking distance. Hasedera and the Great Buddha are a short trip away, with Haneda ~48 km and Narita ~127 km.

This guest house/hostel lives in a 90-year-old traditional wooden building, renovated in 2011 for a cozy, authentic stay. Rooms are air-conditioned (only three guestrooms), and bathrooms include showers, complimentary toiletries, bidets and hair dryers. The name “Kamejikan” — turtle time — hints at a slow, relaxed vibe, and the team uses eco-friendly and fair-trade products.

Kick back in the communal living room, rent a bicycle to explore the coast, or wander to the beach for sea-breeze mornings. Onsite you’ll find a coffee shop/café and a bar/lounge, plus laundry services and onsite self-parking (charges may apply). Complimentary wireless internet keeps you connected.
