A former royal hunting lodge (built 1876, converted in the 1920s) that was refurbished in 2008, set in almost five acres of terraced gardens with magnolias and wisteria. The Royal Lodge has about 20 rooms with flat-screen TVs, DVD players and satellite channels, private bathrooms with tubs or showers, complimentary toiletries, hairdryers, coffee/tea makers and bottled water. Expect an idyllic, restored-country vibe with riverside terraces and long walking routes from your doorstep.
